About Beyond Borders and Boardrooms

My Capstone Artifact represents a dynamic global leadership training program built for flexibility in virtual and in-person environments. The program's foundation will be established through my consulting website, previewed here, which will host a comprehensive presentation deck as its centerpiece. The presentation deck is intended to be an introductory training that can be expanded in the future for a more comprehensive approach to leadership development. The training experience unfolds through an advanced exercise in assessing intercultural effectiveness and three carefully designed components: Working Cross-Culturally, Defining Transforming Leadership, and Transforming Leaders in a Diverse Workforce. The program's structure balances theoretical foundations with applied practice, ensuring participants develop actionable skills for navigating leadership challenges in multicultural environments.

Expanding on the components of this initial training, the first step will be engaging the Internal Effectiveness Scale (IES) (Kozai Group, 2025). As a part of the initial training, participants will be expected to take this assessment to gauge what areas of intercultural effectiveness are strengths and where there might be opportunities to help guide them for future learning. This exercise allows someone to center themselves in self-awareness before entering the first “taught” section, which will look back at the IES results. The first component of this training, Working Cross-Culturally, will be focused on answering the question: What does it mean to work cross-culturally? It provides trainees with the opportunity to identify expected and unexpected ways that they work in a multicultural environment. In this interactive portion, we’ll explore what culture means, how it filters into our work, and what it implies for developing more effective ways of working.

The second phase of the initial training is Defining Transforming Leadership. This section relies heavily on the methods developed by Burns (2003) and the expanded learning by Carey (2021). The second segment will answer the questions: What is a transforming leader, and why would one strive to be a transforming leader? As we work towards the conclusion of the initial training, participants will be prompted to answer the question: What do you think transforming leadership looks like in an international workforce? The final segment of this introductory training allows us to combine our understanding of working effectively in a diverse and often dispersed workforce and what it means to be a transforming leader. Learnings gleaned from the incorporated resources should prepare the foundation for participants to uncover their strengths, identify areas of opportunity, and build on the joy of working in a diverse setting.
